I’ve struggled with recurring yeast infections since childhood, and have finally figured out how to manage them. Yeast thrive in wet, hot areas. Since I’ve always been a swimmer, staying in a wet swimsuit for 5-10 hour meets, it is not surprising that I got so many infections. Yeast also love sugar. The best way to prevent infections is a low-sugar, low-carb diet. For treatment, Monistat never worked for me. I get diflucan prescribed by a doctor, but also limit sugar and refined carb intake, and eat yogurt and take probiotics pills (ie. acidopholus). Probiotics in yogurt and pills help fight yeast.
